The government doesn't get any money, that's what I'm saying. It might get a few hundred million to give to charity or something, but it would be like the ultimate Libertarian society.

Companies would be funded by the profits they make on their goods and/or services.

So basically you want the government to become complete anarchy.

    No...?
I think you should get some rest, restlessness is quite a foe when on the Coffee House. Lost me several arguments.

If the government has no money the government cant function. The government cant run off of donations.

I don't want to be forced to pay for social services. The government can run it, so long as it's financed by donations.[/quote:h635ii2u]
People have a right to them as shown in Imperial's post. Why are you so selfish you can't help people less fortunate than you and these tax dollars also benefit you, your friends, and your neighbours.

I would happily donate money to a private charity. Too much of tax money does not go towards charitable services, unfortunately.

There isn't enough gold to go around. I've told you before, I am not a Ron Paul clone, quit it.

But how can the market truly be free if the currency isn't under the control of market forces? Like gold prices?

You don't think the Fed should have any hand in the economy, but you think it should be able to print money at will and directly control commerce flow?

Do you have a better solution? I am no expert economist by any means, my ideas are not perfect. If you have a better idea, please tell me. Also, I'm not fucking stupid, I see very well what you are doing.

Yes, it involves getting rid of our monetary system and establishing a government of systems functions. However that is irrelevant here, I simply want to know why you support all the ideas of Hayek but reject the economics they are founded upon.

Fun fact: those on the economic right are more likely do give their time and money to charity than those on the left.

Probably because charity is a private institution while most leftists see it as a government issue.

Personally I would rather spend money trying to get the government to do something and keep doing it then giving it to private charity.

A leftist would rather hawk up a little in taxes for the safety nets that render charity unnecessary.
