yeah in earlier versions of EU3 France would become the BBB or "Le Big Blue Blob" as ive seen many paradox forum members call it :p but it seems with HTTT and DW they nerfed France a lot.

Let me reiterate, France Was THE major continental power in Western Europe until unification of Germany. Or have you Forgotten Napoleon and Louis XIV "The Sun King"?

Well Austria was at least equal in terms of influence and power in Western Europe pretty much all the way up until Napoleon. The HRE, fragmented as it was, was also considerably more powerful and influential than France, both in the Medieval and Early Modern periods.

In one campaign on EU3 as Austria I had war declared on me by France AND by Russia. They had 150k men with France and about 200k with Russia. Meanwhile I hade 110k needless to say I got raped. Lost most of my territory that I had built of over 200 years of hard work in which I controled most of Hungary, all of Croatia, all of Switzerland, Northern Italy, Bohemia, bits of Poland and then some of Bavaria. That was reduced to Austria, some of Northern Italy and Croatia. I quit and have hardly played the game since.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you agreeing with me or challenging me? Are you responding to me or someone else?

Quite agreed. The HRE, Austrian Empire, and later Austria-Hungary were also major powers with huge influence in Western Europe. I just speaking of the singular powers located in continental Western Europe, mainly focusing on the power balance between France and the German states/Empire.

Sorry, I am agreeing with you. It seems I'm almost always in a defend France mode as so many people like to talk dirt about it, As if their failure in WW2 were a reflection on their entire nations history, and this just rubs me the wrong way.

The Paris Commune was redonkulous. As was most of the 3rd Republic; governments rose and fell in a matter of months. But I guess that's what happens to a country when its Emperor is captured in battle.

what have you seen us? here in italy democrazy is an epic fail the state lost its war against the mafia and now the unified mafia is controlling everything and berlusconi(a puppet in their hands and he likes to be a puppet) everyday attacks the judges as 'red toga-wearing tools of the left' only because they re doing their job and hes changing the costituition so he can threat the honest judges that's an epic fail to me anyway yes i think that franch is overpowered and like someone said i hope that the next patch for vichy 2 ll fix it a bit

IIRC, France IS the second most powerful nation in THE WORLD when Vicky II starts. I would not doubt that they'd be at least a little bit of a challenge, especially if you're not playing as one of the Great Eight.
