exactly, but between the M16 and AK, id take the AK. Simply because i know that if i get cut of or something like that and cant maintain my gun properly i know it will still work.
Can't really say, the one I shot was pretty tricked out, so it felt the same as an M16 series (ie negligible)
I shoot guns that my cousin owns....he owns....Two .22 caliber pistols, AR-15,Double barrel shotgun,Hunting rifle My favorite is the Double Barrel shotgun he owns...we use it for shooting things like plates, picture frames, That one time we shot our old Xbox... First gun i ever shot was my Dads revolver...when i shot a racoon
The M16's barrel can also be adjusted just as easily but it's only a feature on the more modern and special versions of the rifle.
They use it for blending into their surroundings... They're issued M4's, HK416's or any other weapon they want for the mission at hand.
Think the AK takes this one guys. If i was just randomly picked up and they said go to war (this is persuming i didnt shit my pants and crawl into a hole) i would choose the AK. Why its simplicity. give someone a AK and two hours on there own theyd probaly be able to take apart and resemble it. theyd be more accurate with it because of the more open sights. you could give an m16 to a guy and he wouldt know how to take it apart and put it back together without at least a 2 week course. olso in the the mix the m16 has longer range but fire fights usaly happen within 300 meters anywhays (reaserch by soviets).
i think that research might be a bit outdated in modern warfare. distance seems to be getting larger and larger.
The distances for firefights are getting longer and longer because they can shoot amazing distances accurately while the AK isn't made for long range warfare the M16 is.
They're both incredibly easy to disassemble and reassemble. For basic maintenance to keep the thing going, all you need to do is take out one of the pins on an M16 and just use a rag and wipe off the bolt. Also, open sights means less accurate. There's less things to line up, so while that makes it easier to quickly get the thing lined up, it means less precision. Engagement distances are a mixed bag though. In some climates there are longer engagements (such as Afghanistan) but in more urban climates the engagements are shorter. Another thing to consider is that it's really up to you to choose the distance of engagement. If I had an AK, I would maneuver myself in such a way that maximizes its effectiveness. If I had an M16 I would move out further, making the nullifying the enemy's combat effectiveness, and maximizing my ability to affect them.
The M-16 isn't difficult to field strip. It's rather easy, I could teach someone in about 15 minutes how to do it. I've never taken down an AK but I imagine it's also easy to do. So that argument isn't a slam dunk for me. Instead, I'd take the M-16 because it's more accurate. AK's are sloppy. That's why they perform so well in bad conditions. The M-16 is more precise and subject to fouling but it's easily fixed. I'd rather have a more accurate firearm even if it has to be cared for better. And the M-16 has much less recoil. It's easier to keep on target with. The AK I fired kicked hard. With sustained fire it was tricky to keep on my target. I've never had an issue like that with an M-16. The M-16 is much more controlled.
I have only shot an air rifle and an air pistol and airsofts (L96,Sig-551,AK74m,M1911,G36c). I have never shot a real gun before, And I think but I'm not sure guns are only legal for hunting and target pistols but not for self defense in Hungary.
