It is now precisely a year to go before the Olympic Games come to these fair British Isles and, naturally, this momentous occasion was celebrated with much pomp, splendour, expense and even bloody Olympic-themed junk mail through my door.

Soon we will have the privilege of seeing a lot of well-muscled people running, skipping, jumping, pole-vaulting and shooting at things, hailing from every country in the world, apart from Iran maybe but hey-ho.

Apart from women's beach volleyball, I really couldn't give a toss about the Olympics. They talk of a lasting legacy it will leave behind and the development it will encourage, but I just see a gross exercise in self-glorification that will do nothing for the city in the long term.

London has produced many great things over the years including myself (having been born there before moving to Scotland) and the mighty Chelsea who will surely regain their rightful position as Premiership champions this season, but I really can't see the London Olympics being anything to shout about.

But perhaps you disagree? Are the Olympics still of any relevance whatsoever?

But most of the sports are insanely boring. Can you honestly say that many people watch the athletics when it's on BBC2?

That's probably because they're one of the few who are capable of winning the most medals.

Yo the Olympics are just like any other sport. People just like watching competition. Nobody forces you to watch them.

My comment was more of a bad joke really, and you are correct about not having to watch it. But I just get the impression that most people in the UK don't really care about the Olympics, so why spend all that money bringing them here? Not sure how other countries feel about them though, perhaps they think differently.

    As I said, I believe it's just a big exercise in self-glorification.

Complaining seems to make you happy. So maybe if they made Complaining an Olympic sport, it would please you?

So we are in agreement. Petition the Olympic Committee and let them have it!

It's nice to see all the nations coming together for a sportly game of whatever the hell they do in the Olympics.

So ya, I don't mind it. I do mind it when our tax dollars have to pay for the stadiums and all though.

    Wait, what?

We've been fighting over the Olympics all the time. Like the Boycots and all the riots that can happen.

Because people take it too seriously if you take out the whole representing nation thing its just a couple of people having a good time like you should.
