Well, if anything goes wrong, they die. I don't see how you get to escape back to Earth halfway on your way to Mars.

Once they get to Mars, there is no escape. Not on the way, but once they get there. They could know they're going to die for a couple of weeks beforehand, but there is no way for them to escape.

Exactly my point, why the hell would they make an escape plan, then?

So they can escape! Right now there is no thought of an escape plan, its explained on the website. However, it explains it is possible for there to be an escape plan. It seems to me they are just abandoning these people to die. And what if they all contract some pathogen? Are we supposed to just cut off all contact with people that we sent there?

Ah...well, I haven't read the site. I wish them all the luck, but I don't expect it to succeed.
