Just to give a pre-start review, it looks like this will be an interesting game. The Netherlands is the only buffer between England and Germany, both of which will be eager to expand. Meanwhile, the entire Lower-left Corner can be dominated by Aragon (me), without any competition besides North Africa. The bottom-right will likely be taken by Turkey, although Greece could prove a competitor. France will most likely be divided up between Rome, with a sea passage to Nice, England, with a sea passage to Normandy, and Aragon, with a land and sea passage to the rest of Southern France. The interior of the map will be a battle-ground between Germany, Rome, and Hungary(Teal). Perhaps Aragon/England will have a little action but probably not for a few turns or unless Germany/Italy gets lazy with claiming. Scandinavia will be a mess. Sweden is within range of Germany. Norway can take both Sweden and Finland. Denmark will be taken by Germany, but because it is close to the Netherlands it may be possible for England to land in the Netherlands and take Denmark. Finland could be taken by either Novgorod(Link, Dark Green) or Norway and they will most likely be competing for it. The Baltic is within range of both Germany AND Novgorod. Either could take it, no matter how crazy the map could look. The Russian Area will probably be taken by Che, the light green, from the far east. I say this because Che has picked the time of start, and thus may be able to use it better. On the flip side, if he does not take it he will be practically entirely locked out of Russia. The Balkans will be fought over by Greece and Hungary. Greece has more to lose in this, as if they fail to take the Balkans or Turkey first they will only consist of their capital. Two Sicilies, although it may not seem like it, is up for grabs. Greece could take it as could Rome. Switzerland(16) will be the meeting point of Empires. Rome, Aragon, Germany, and maybe even Hungary(if they seize 29) will be able to converge on it. As it will be one of the last 2nd Turn areas it may be very high value at that time. Well, there's your pre-war report. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Idea here, rather than taking over an entire Empire simply by taking the Capital, why not destroy the Empire and its holdings but take said Capital? So if Germany takes England, they wont get Ireland and Scotland too, only England. They must wait for next turn to take Ireland and Scotland. I think it could work well, as it would stop incredibly rapid expansion based on sheer luck.
What about stuff like empires? I think one country that controls the entire map should have a bit of a modifier to a country that has 2 provinces >.>
My problem with the capital thing is that they will still be able to attack when they only have one city left, so it will be near impossible to take someone down without a clusterfuck of nations helping. If the game goes to a one on one, it will never end unless someone has some extreme bad luck on an astronomical scale.
By the way guys, no one be the one douche who's like, "I'm going to help this massive power conquer everyone!" If you help him conquer YOU WILL LOSE TOO. YOU WILL DIE. DON'T LET HIM WIN adadrfeagfeageagdagfeafdada I hate it when you need everyone in order to stop the largest power but one guy is like, "Uhhhhh, can't we do it later?" or "Never! I'm going to help him win!" It sucks. Just realize that if you don't help stop them we're all boned. It's true, and no one will wait two months for a one v. one game to end so the next round can start. Perhaps it could be negated after 4 people have died? I mean, we all know Hungary is probably screwed from the start, Turkey or Greece too. Maybe even Novgorod or Norway.
Don't let Him/Her* Win. Also yeah the idea where the capital bonus only lasts until a certain amount of people have been destroyed sounds good. So that the weaker/less lucky people at the beginning have a better chance of staying in, and then after that everyone is large enough to support themselves without the bonus. Edit: Also I doubt anyone here has a disadvantage for a starting location. Greece is fine because they have that water to the right that attaches to so many regions. Turkey is fine because they also have that water area. The only person who might be in trouble is Norway, and thats just a might.
I like the capital idea where its only there until maybe 4 players. Also should we get any non-agressions started right now or wait till mon? If we do it now, then we can list it just before we start! (note: long live the British Empire!)
The problem is I won't have access to a computer until Sunday night after tonight, so I won't be able to update anything. After that though I will be good with no more interruptions.
You probably shouldn't be mapping out your alliances yet. For all you know Norway and Che will broke Link out of most his possible territory and Link'll be crushed almost as soon as the game starts. Or on the flip side he might take every possible gain and conquer everything. You never know I guess.
I know, but then Norway won't be a huge problem, but you could be right. I have a feeling that I'm gonna lose against blank territories 2 times...
Meh, you know how it is. Also we're probably going to have to kill each other over France if you land in Normandy/Belgium. Although Germany should keep you busy, so you know...
Should we make water crossing -1 to attacker, and could we make white defenders in your own region -1 defense perhaps?
I have an idea, after a turn update the map, yes. BUT save the map from the turn before. That way when it's all over we could have a narative of all the events, maybe even put it into a video format with a naration, either someone talking or just text. It would be like a record of history.
