    1. I didn't mean "you" as-in you specifically.
    2. I didn't say the people who fly the flag were racist. I'm saying its dumb to try to excuse flying it. The non-racists who fly it may WANT it to just represent "Southern Pride", but it doesn't. You can't ignore its tainted past. Fuck, if the Civil War didn't taint it enough, its use with the KKK and Neo-Nazis sure did.

    Well that flag is mainly used by rednecks meaning that they pride themselves with a shotgun and a deer. My friend occasionally wears a confederate flag, but he is one of the most non-racist people that I know. Besides, that "tainted" flag does have important history about it. Not a good, cheerful history, but a history nonetheless. Having a bad history doesn't mean that something is tainted. Its kinda like propaganda. The KKK could use it, but so could the "National Redneck League of America."*

    Racism no it does not mean that. Is it looked at that way today? Yes unfortunately it is. Does it have to be that way? No educate people and get them to understand.

    Is it a flag of Treason? Yes at one time I would say it was, Now no because it is for remembrance.

    The senate has always been set up in it's current fashion. That was the whole reason for our bicameral legislature. What changed is how we elect senators, and for how long they serve...

    OT: You can't just ignore intent. Legally there is a big difference between intent and negligence. Perhaps it's negligent racism, but the vast majority of people flying that flag don't have the intent of being racist.

    That is actually close to what i first posted on this topic. The racism is usually seen by people who don't know anything about the thing in question.

    I guess I never provided a clear answer to the original question. No, you are not a racist if you fly the Confederate flag. I'll have a lower opinion of you, but you aren't a racist.
