This is what really bugged me about Obama. He used military force without the consent of congress. No president is ever supposed to do that.
Do I think he should be impeached? Yes
Do I think it is likely he will be impeached? Probably not

The problem in america is that 50% of the people here don't care about politics at all. If we would just listen for one gosh darn second and cared, then we wouldn't be in this situation.

Actually Obama was well within the powers of the US President under the War Powers Act to take action against Gadaffi, at least immediately. The legal issue came with his apparent hesitance to ask Congress to formally declare war on Libya until the very last moment given to him by the War Powers Act. I know there was a bit of backlash when he tried to define US involvement in Libya as NATO action, therefore eliminating the need for a declaration of war. Overall, this isn't a big deal, there's not basis to impeach him. He may have toed the line in certain areas, but did not participate in illegal action.

Here's the War Powers Act: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_Powers_Resolution

Please save us a lot of time and tell the boneheaded Congressman who proposed this that.

Yeah, that's great... but why are you replying to that post when that post has nothing to do with whether this was a ligitimate report?

    Actually, it makes sense.
    Some situations require immediate action.

I don't think this is real. If it was, us reds probably would have been the first to hear about it. So far, there is nothing on my usual left-wing news sites.

Actually, the War Powers Resolution was a limit on the President's power over military deployment, passed after Richard Nixon's unauthorized action in Cambodia during the Vietnam War. The Resolution attempted to keep Congress in the loop on military action, but allowed the bureaucracy to be pushed aside in cases of emergency. However, this was a major part of the criticism of Obama in using the Resolution during the conflict with Libya. The arguments were that there was no emergency that would impede a proper declaration of war.

I just think that no one really thinks he is going to be impeached, that or they are wanting to make sure all is confirmed. The Congressman who pushed for it has confirmed it.

Also the Tea Party thinks its due to a media blackout, but I myself don't believe that.

Yea.. Let's not forget how unlikely it is for any president to get impeached, let alone one with a pretty high approval rating. Let's not also forget that they brought impeachment charges against Bush for Iraq, and bringing charges =/= being impeached

One thing that people need to rememder is that being impeached (with I highly doubt Obama will be) dosen't mean removal from office. Impeachment is only the first of two stages, impeachment is only a statement of charges. To be removed from office the Senate need a 2/3 majority to remove the president and the only time it ever came that close was with President Andrew Johnson.

I think he left on his own accord, to try and save his reputation. There may have been a impeachment movement going on at the time, though I wouldn't take my word on that.

I believe it was invented, at least my 6th Grade History Teacher said so, because during the Cold War there was obviously not enough time to call a Congress to pass a Declaration of War should the Russians start firing the Nukes. So the President can do SOME stuff.

I'm sorry, but Nixon is just one of my favorite presidents. He was just really good and would have continued to be really good has it not been for Watergate, but that is all I will say on the matter.
