It'll probably be impossible to reinforce, but if worse comes to worse American LPers can just have a Canadian upload all their footage.

Actually a letter get's more recognition then anything short of having an actual meeting with your congressmen.

Have any of you guys actually read the thing though? The only thing it would really do is prohibit people from profiting off copyrighted material.

Copy-write infringement is kind of a big deal though, businesses feel that they are loosing money because people can view their content without purchasing it. Think about it this way - you spend millions of dollars and a few years developing a product, and as soon as you release it, no one buys it because one guy bought it and uploaded it on yt...

Easy way to track the bills progress:

But that isn't the case for a ton of good games. People don't just not buy those because they see them on Youtube. In a lot of cases it can make people want to buy the game. It does depend on the game. If it's the exact same every time you play then maybe.

Well a lot of story based games could easily make the claim. In either case, other people are profiting of something they created.

Eh not really at all. Capitalism relies on ownership, creating a product or idea and being able to profit of that without fear of someone else taking it.

The big capitalists(movie industry) are trying to crush the small capitalists(youtubers, small lets plays sites, etc).

I would agree with this statement. This is how our system works with everything else, why not movies.

Well if its anything like the DMCA that Clinton signed into law it will be ignored for 20 years and then it will be arbitrarily enforced on the wrong people. However, internet crimes have begun to become a political issue in the United States thanks to the dicks at Lulzsec and other script kiddies. This thing could be rashly signed into law if any politicians begin to fear monger.

In short, I imagine if this law is passed it will not be used against sites like YouTube for hosting the videos, but for the people directly uploading the materials to YouTube. Said people will be charged tens of thousands of dollars for uploading music videos.

Pedro you watched my fallout nv lp and still got the game, I can't remember if it was you or Kali that told me i influenced them to buy the game. So you kinda defeated your own argument. Also I don't really have anything to worry about because I am Canadian and our copywrite laws are laughably out dated and paraliment won't be insession again till September. And even then copy write laws are the last thing on our MPs mind.

Who says they won't be affected? If the company hosting the videos is based in the US, the bill will force them to get rid of all of them to comply with US law, basically affecting everyone regardless of nationality.
