It's great how the WikiPedia page on them first states they acted as the bodyguard, and then has a list of the interaction between each emperor and the Guard. About a quarter was murdered and assassinated by them, I'd say. Oh the irony.

Well I guess they kept them around for political sway, but you think if you are the fourth emperor in the same year and all of your predecessors have been killed by the guard, you would disband the fuckers. I mean to a normal praetorian guard yearly pay was 25 000 (something something...)for what?!

Also I love that some modern security company's name is praetorian

I don't know, if you pay them enough, you should be fine.

"We are Pretorian. If you pay us enough, you won't be part of the quarter!"

Well I just read about the bad times of the roman empire (the time when the average ruling time was 2 years)

"the normal people surprisingly were not effected. Army was a standing army and the soldiers were career soldiers. The revolting generals who wanted to be emperors never raped, pillaged or did anything else to the population.
Only effect it had was that sometimes you came across a field of dead or your relative who was a soldier died.

The economical effect was only inflation."

    really interesting,

so the "bad times" were not so bad to the majority of the population?

You can never be 100% sure God exists because you can never get enough evidence to prove he exists. The only way to know whether he exists or not is to die, and I don't plan on trying to die just to prove my point.

    He's insecure.

Anyways sly, you can never change my belief. I believe in God, is there a problem?

    lol.
I'm not trying to change your belief. I am trying to say, you can believe a God exists but you can never be 100% sure a God exists until you die. Also, I was trying to say you have no room for calling the ancient alien theory "bullshit because there is no evidence" while defending something with no tangible evidence.

It is impossible to be 100% sure. It's not a matter of saying well I'm 100% and he's not, it is not possible to be 100% sure he exists, and vice versa. That is why religion arguments never amount to anything. Because neither side can ever be 100% sure.

You can not doubt the existence of God but you can never be 100% sure. It is impossible to be 100% sure either way, until you die.

Of course you can believe in God, dammit! What we mean is, you can never be so secure of it, unless you've had some kind of experience, but you never told us about such kind so it is foolish to be so sure of something you can't prove. I don't say you should believe in anything, but you should keep telling us that we should for that logic. I'm not trying to turn you into an atheist, I'm trying to convince you that the arrogant behavior you use only destroys your own credibility.

    Nice. Mature.
