Here is a new thread! Who would you have voted for in the 1912 presidential election?

This election is perhaps one of the greatest the USA has ever had because there were 4 very interesting and colorful candidates. Woodrow Wilson, the Democrat, would probably not had one if T.R. did not run. Roosevelt ran because he was upset and his successor, William Howard Taft. Roosevelt actually tried to rest the Republican nomination away from Taft, but failed so Roosevelt ran under the banner of the new Progressive Party ("Bull Moose" Party). Making the election more interesting was Eugene V. Debs, a popular speaker who ran for the Socialist Party. In the end Wilson won in a landslide due to the divide, but it was clear if T.R. has not ran Taft would had won. Roosevelt still won more than Taft actually in terms of popular votes and states. Debs got less than 1,000,000 votes but he still won the strongest showing ever for a socialist party. So, 100 years after 1912, we will hold our own election in honor of it. Will our election repeat the real one or will T.R. or Taft come out or maybe Debs will spoil it. I personally would vote for T.R. actually.

Roosevelt was the nominee of the Bull Moose Party, not the progressives.

That was a secondary name to the Progressive Party. It became known that when Roosevelt made a speech calling himself a bull moose after getting shot in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He wanted war with Germany no doubt, but Wilson was president at the time. I am not sure if this was true, but I believe he even wanted a command in WW1! Can you imagine T.R. charging across No Man's Land with fellow troops!? I think he might be a pretty good morale boost.

So far T.R. is winning in a landslide and Wilson has only 1 vote, but can he catch up, and will Taft and Debs be left behind?

I'd vote Roosevelt. He is one of the greatest presidents we have ever had. Wilson was pretty good, taft was meh, and socialism is stupid, so it's pretty clear option for me.

Until he was shot. Charges typically only ended in slaughter during the Great War, if I recall correctly.

Leading a charge at a German machine gun wearing a bullseye on his helmet (unless he was too tough enough for one) while having a sign on his chest saying aim at me, seems like something Roosevelt would definitely do.

I think seeing that moose would literally scare the shit out of a German soldier or two, if they were trapped with no ammo that is. They still might be scared in trench, but they can still shoot it.
