What is you guy's opinion of this game? Personally, I found it a bit lackluster. I've played Warband so much that it feels stale, and this is just more of the same. Not to mention I've already encountered a couple bugs, one of which prevented me from completing an important quest.
Well I had high hopes but the game is broken at the moment. Accidentally asked to speak with a slave trader so I tried to "leave". However, it wouldn't let me leave at all and I had to close the game. Game has also crashed several times so far and parts of the map keep glitching. This is all within 2 hours of play.
The guns are very overpowered. You can't do shit by yourself against enemies with guns. I also ran into an extremely fucking stupid quest. I'm supposed to be delivering a prize horse to the Czar, but I get ambushed by bandits. You have to fight 20+ bandits with yourself and 6 troops. If you lose, they take the horse. I have found this near impossible, and why in the hell am I wandering around with 6 soldiers and an important horse? I command a force of 74 men. They aught to all be guarding the damn horse. So, I'm forced to win the fight with cheats, which kills the immersion for me. But, aside from that quest, as I got farther in the game, I started enjoying it more and more. I'm learning how to fight gun armed troops, and I'm managing to move up in the world. Its certainly a fuckload harder than Warband, but I'm adjusting.
I got in the complete hat and I installed it but I had homework last night so i haven't played it yet.
You're in for a world of trouble if you haven't played other M&B games. I'm having a lot of trouble as a seasoned vet of both prequals.
Any idea how to level up your troops? Or can you even do so? I encountered a bug that forced me to reload a save as well. Don't go into a siege between your faction and someone else unless you are guaranteed a victory because the game will bug out and force your last man to fight repeatedly without dying and without killing any enemies.
Doesn't it seem like more and more games are being released in poor (perhaps you could even say unfinished) shape with tons of bugs, some game breaking?
To give them some credit, Paradox aren't a big company and don't have access to a lot of funds. I guess they still have to adhere to strict deadlines. Even so, it's still a pain in the arse; I just lost a year in my latest Victoria 2 game. Good thing autosave was on or it could have been worse.
I wasn't specifically talking about Paradox. I was saying in general. Some of the big name companies are very guilty of this. But I haven't heard a ton of good things about the game yet.
that and HOI 3 i hated them compared to Civ 4 and HOI 2 EU and warband with 1200 mod is still best paradox games out there
More and more games are released these days with a lot of bugs that should have been removed before release I think they are getting lazy in their game testing.
I'm going to wait for patchs and guides to come out before I inveset in the game. Given the response I think I should sit it out until people can tell me how to stop the problems.
Paradox doesn't make M&B. They publish it. Its made by Taleworlds, a much, much smaller company. It was founded by a husband and wife programming team, and they've only ever made the 3 M&B games. A paradox game should be held to a much higher standard for bugs. Anyway, the game gets more fun as you get in, and I'm well on my way to becoming Czar. However, the story makes it have much less replay value. Previous games had as close to unlimited options as you ccould get. This one, not so much.
Really? I haven't picked up on the story really at all in my playthrough. I had to escort Frenchy to the the King of Sweden as part of a random noble quest, but other than that and the tutorial I've been free roaming. Going to become a Swedish noble soon, I hope. What I'd really like to know is if anyone has figured out unit leveling yet.
The story gives you choices, although they don't affect the end result, just who you piss off getting there. You can almost entirely ignore it, but you have very few opportunities. If you want to become a swedish noble, then don't do what Frenchie says, but I would say to go ahead and play through the story at least once. As for troop upgrading, I have no idea how to raise recruits up to be elite. You can upgrade equipment from mercenary hiring places or from armorers in cities, but it isn't that practical. Getting mercs from taverns is a helluva lot cheaper, so until you're sitting on a fortune, raising an army specially equipped isn't a viable option.
