[yt:bh2f3qqm]2LUJfLPmiCs[/yt:bh2f3qqm] I'm incredibly excited about this. I've been waiting for them to start production on this movie for years. Unfortunately I still need to wait a couple more years for them to actually finish making it. Hopefully I don't die tragically in the intervening years, never getting to see the movie, that would suck.
The same people who made the LOTR movies you mean? Yes, basically the same people. But yeah, The Hobbit is probably my favorite fiction book of all time.
It was going to be directed by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) but delays in production caused him to back out so they got the director from LOTR.
Thank goodness for that! Not that del Toro is a bad director or anything. But to keep the feel of the film right Jackson is the best director for the job. The Hobbit is the prologue to the LotR, I'd like to see that the movies are reasonably consistent with each other. I enjoyed the Hobbit as a book and I'm happy to see the movie is being made. But the animated version from the Seventies will still remain a classic to me. Yet I expect that this new version will be very epic, as the other films were. I see that it's in two parts. That bodes very well that they will take their time and not rush through things. Hoping for good things...
