In here we will discuss the American Border problem. Here is my two bits:
Why does the Border need regulating? Why does there need to be a distinction between a "Legal" and an "Illegal" immigrant? Historically borders have only ever been controlled during periods of conflict. You are going to make the point that their is a conflict in Mexico, with the Drug Cartels. But if drugs were legalized, and they were sold in America by legitimate companies, what would be the problem? The War would be over. Frankly I just see it as a waste of money. An issue, used to sway voters.
    Et tu?

This is stupid because people will kill other people just for their next drug even if is legal that just makes it more likely for theft, and murder drugs will never be legal in America i repat DRUGS WILL NEVER EVER BE LEGAL IN AMERICA.

There's always been a distinction between legal and illegal immigration. Illegal immigration cheats the system and can cause a burden on social services, and thus on taxpayers. Not to mention that it provides extremely cheap labor that screws us all over in the end. Lack of employment opportunity leads to high rates of crime; in other words illegal immigration exacerbates unemployment, poverty, and crime.

In my system immigration in general (Really any increase in population.) would lead to shorter total work hours.

Right, because a Blood dealing Crack in South Central is a Family-Safe environment all around, right?

Mkay. if Mexico were a better place, people wouldn't be desperate to come over. I think that most problems in Mexico are a result of the Drug War, or could be solved if it weren't for the War. If Mexico was more economically and socially developed, would an open border not work?

Also what is your answer to the border question?

Our goal isn't to make Mexico a better place and though drugs are a huge problem there they won't be offering a more attractive life than the US any time soon.

Drugs aren't good, but the only ways to eliminate them as a problem is to act like they're not one and legalize them or else eliminate the consumers wholesale. Option 2 isn't very feasible or particularly humanitarian but I detest Option 1 because all the douchey stoners and druggies will be even more annoying.

In any case immigration isn't fundamentally tied to the "War on Drugs," it's an ancillary issue.

Increase border security and prevent larger waves of illegal immigration.

That's nice, keep holding onto your daydreams.

Yes i think that would be possible. Comparable to the Schengen agreement. But the fact that mexico is not at a comparable level to the us, wether economically nor socialy makes this point kind of redundant.

As for the drug war thing, that has allready a thread.

Well, yes, but it's not so much that as that you're avoiding the issue and just talking about your ideology.

Why would you detest everyone being employed exactly? That just seems quite, er, counterproductive I s'pose would be the word for it.

A society that's 100% employed can't grow. There needs to be around 2-4% of the workforce available for employment at any given time.

Tightening border control would be very useful in the short term, but I don't think it would solve the problem in the long term. I think improving other nations such as Mexico is important to solving issues here in America, as the world is much more globalized now. I think tightening Immigration for the short term, legalizing drugs(particularly weed and hallucinogens, maybe Cocaine) throughout the Americas, and helping nations where people come to America from, such as Mexico, to develop, and then loosening border control is the only solution that would effectively end the problem in the long-term.

And not liking "Annoying Douchey Stoners" is no reason to continue to prohibit drugs.

The problem is large-scale immigration the US that hurts us in many different ways. If we prevent it then the problem is solved altogether.

Dreadful. We aren't supposed to build their nation for them, and it would be a bad idea to try. Not that we actually could do much.

We don't have the power to say what other countries consider legal.

    Again, terrible idea.

Obviously you haven't spent much time around them.

    @Demon
Again, this is why I said mostly I'm annoyed that you're just talking within the framework of your ideology that will never see the light of this century. This is one of those situations where extremists just ignore problems.
