I bought medieval 2 total war on steam. Since I bought it has not worked....ever, I can play the demo fine, the game itself, NOPE. Whenever I try to start it 2 messages appear.
    1. Fatal execution engine error (0x7927f22e)
    2. Launcher.exe
application has generated an exception that could not be handled
Process id = (different every time) thread id = (also different)

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated, you would help your Kaiser on the path to playing an amazing game. :D

Have you tried asking on the Steam or Total War forums? Also try googling it.

I have tried all of those things, Total War forums didn't have my issue on their ( I'm to lazy to make an account ) googling the issue brought me to Microsoft .net framework stuff. steam support is useless, the thread i set up has been on for a week, nothing. I have no idea what to do.

Have you tried validating the files through Steam or deleting it and re-installing it? Not sure what the problem is myself, I'm not good with this kind of thing. All I can think of.

    What OS are you running?
If what Chelsea just said doesn't work (that seems to fix 70% of steam problems I have), then right click on the launcher and in the properties, try some of the compatibility modes. Also, make sure you run it as an administrator. If those don't work, go to your steam settings and in the "in-game" tab, uncheck "enable steam community in game".

    1. Have you ever gone into the files of any other Total War game?
    2. If you said yes then you proably messed up something. You have to be VERY careful with Total War files.

I only tried to run it in compatibility mode with windows 2000. Could that have been the issue? But even before it didn't work.

That didn't fix it either, I think the game itself is just fucked.

I'm sorry you're having such trouble with your game. That's one of the most annoying and disappointing things, to have a game that just doesn't work for some reason.

Sorry to hear about that KaiserKlay, but I'm out of ideas here on the other side of the internet. The most annoying thing is that 99% of the time it's a very simple fix, but it could literally be a million different things and just one of them needs to go wrong for the whole game to stuff up. I've just spent 15 hours of the past 3-4 days trying to get Command and Conquer: Generals to work after re-installing it in anticipation of the sequel. Countless fixes and re-installs later and it turns out all I had to do was change 2 numbers in an ini file.

I have misgivings on advising you to do this, but if you really want to play the game you could pirate it and see if that works. I would never say this otherwise, but you payed for the game and it doesn't work, so in this case I don't see the harm.

I really don't want to pirate it, too many steps.

I had problems with Medieval 2 as well, I had edited a file for the musketeers and ended up fucking up the game I re-installed it and it still did not work. What i realized was when you unpack the files in Medieval 2 to mod it you have to delete them manually and that fixed it, check and seee that Everything is deleted in the folder when you un-install it.
