I just finished the book and want to know if any of you have too. If so leave a comment of what you thought about it.
I've read The Lord of the Rings "trilogy" about a dozen times. I really think Tolkien did a fantastic job all around. Although I do find the parts of Frodo, Sam, and Smeagol crossing the wastelands to Mordor incredibly boring. I know, I know. Character development blah, blah, blah... It's still a huge slow down in the pacing of the story. And I wish Tom Bombadil was a bit more fleshed out. He's a bit of an enigma in the story. I would've been curious to see how his part would've been done in Peter Jackson's movies but it's probably for the best that it was omitted.
I've watched the movies and read the books, although I haven't seen the extended edition. I'm a big fan of the series, and I'm looking forward to the Hobbit movies.
I have not read the triology though I've seen the extended films. Amazing series. I have read The Hobbit several times though, and it's probably my favourite book of all times.
Read The Hobbit first, then read all the books, then watched the extended edition of all the movies. I'm on second go on the books now actually =] Tolkien is an incredible writer, and Peter Jackson is an incredible film maker.
I've never been successful in finding The Adventures of Tom Bombadil. I've known of it's existence but have had zilch in the way of luck in finding it. Does it add much in the way of insight to his origins or the role he plays in Middle Earth? Perhaps I should go against my general rule and search Amazon for it. (I typically only support actual book stores as I think they're important and the internet is killing them.)
