http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_patent http://debatepedia.idebate.org/en/index.php/Debate:_Gene_patents "A gene patent is a patent on a specific isolated gene sequence, its chemical composition, the processes for obtaining or using it, or a combination of such claims. Gene patents are a part of the broader category of biological patents." Pros: http://www.genengnews.com/gen-articles/in-defense-of-gene-patenting/2052/ Cons: http://www.whoownsyourbody.org/crichton-congress.html I don't want to post some pros and cons for this because than I'd have to trudge through one of Geoffrey Karny's or Kevin Noonen's articles again. I don't want to get aggravated and it's to late for me to even muster the endurance. Personally, I feel the idea of owning a gene is both idiotic and dangerous. But don't let that discourage you from making your own opinion!
