Couldn't find any thread about this using the search bar and this seems like the most relevant place to put it.

So, global warming has been pretty much confirmed by the world's scientists and despite the gradual change by some nations to renewable energy sources, CO2 emissions continue to rise.

Will the West Antarctic Ice Sheet collapse in our lifetime?
Will Canada become warm enough to allow human colonisation?
Would rising sea levels affect where you live?

So be like the British and discuss the weather and how it will eventually kill you!

Well the National Round Table on The Environment says that it will be more expensive to adapt to climate then to prevent it. There is no doubt that until countries like the U.S., China, and India get stricter regulations we may see the total melting of the Arctic in our lifetime.

Actually the melting of the Arctic probably would not have a large impact on us, at least just in ocean levels. Most of the Arctic is already floating in the ocean so it would not raise sea levels.

Actually if the Arctic melted most of Florida, Alabama, Louisiana would be flooded. Not to mention other places in the world especially ones in Asia.

Don't fall prey to sensationalist environmental literature; the biggest impact climate change will have is on impoverished nations, not us.

I saw on tv that the coastlines of places like Florida and California could engulf the beaches and much expensive real estate by 2100 if current trends continue.
    Doesn't really affect me.

I'm interested to see what climate change does for Canada. Warmer temperatures, access to fresh Arctic resources and a bottomless supply of labour in the form of third world refugees seems like a sweet deal.

Well there be lots of flooding in the North, the forestry industry will take a hit, health will decline, things like that.

California may end up splitting away in a giant earthquake, so that is all that effects me.

Europe get very cold very quickly after the influx of cold water messes up the ocean currents that supply them with warm water.

No. Since most of the Arctic is already floating in the ocean the sea level will not rise if it melts. If the Antarctic were to melt that would be a different story.

Both are major issues and the Antarctic is melting at the same rapid pace. That ice that is floating right now will melt.

And do nothing. The ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica are what you need to worry about.

Lol, some hours ago I talked with family from Italy; there is a flood in Genoa, I'm pretty sure it has to do with this. It would be funny too have a Venice here in Buenos Aires. But no seriously, almost 3 million people live here, and some neighborhoods get flooded only because of heavy raining. I don't know if something is going to happen in my lifetime, but it doesn't matter; there should be strict regulations.

Nothing is going to change when we have people like Rick Perry and areas known as "Texas".

O.k the question i have about climate change is not that its happening, (i at least believe it is) but what is the cause of it; is it just a natural cycle or have humans played a role in it, and can we step back or change are role into a more positive one (what measures must be taken, and driving a Prius does not make you more environmentally firendly.)

It happens naturally but takes millions of years to get the level humans have put it at. We can change things by reducing the pollution we spew into the air by an extremely large amount, sadly this will never happen.

Is global warming real, and a problem? Yes.

Is the world going to implode into a fiery ball of destruction and environmentalist tears if we don't all start driving hybrids? No.
