I created this topic so I could see everybody's opinion about Caesar and his legion. Personall, I think they are so awesome, that they need an entire forum topic dedicated to them, so I felt that I needed to make one. Please express your opinions bout the legion here, whether you vilify them or idolize them :D

I just started my play through and I intend on destroying them lol. They basically hold an extreme realist perspective and philosophy, and I kind of like individual liberties, and while the NCR may not be perfect, I can't really get behind (even in a video game) a faction that enslaves and doesn't offer any form of representation for the governed

before i say this do not think that i think that any form osf slavery is good. I condemn slavery no matter what it is.

ou have to remember that they do not treat their slaves badly. Some of the slaves are "doctors" and others just help out. Most were concerred from tribes that had worse conditions then the slaves have now. Also, many of the slaves are POW's but instead of being treated as such, they are treated as slaves. When we thinnk of slavery, we think of southern slavery in the US. Most slavery was not as bad condition =s as the slavery that we had in the United States. Also, they were concuered fairly through war, and some of the slaves can even become legionaries. Im not sure if I agree with crusifixtions however

I know this is a little late xD... but personally i dont like the Legion.

I mean, the Legion leadership is pretty cool but the average soldier is not only really rude but i just dont connect with them like i do the NCR. I mean i played Fallout 1 and 2 and i watched NCR take hold, so not only do i feel bad about destroying them but i also have some sort of comaradery with them. I mean the Leadership of the NCR are a bunch of idiots like politicians today, but the average man or woman out there on the front line will get my vote anyday.

The NCR are like the Imperial Guard in my eyes, poor saps given guns and crap armour and told to go and fight untold horrors.

Again i know old post is old but i just felt like posting xD

Perhaps Im just a ruthless dictator or I had the thought of individual liberties, maybe I hate the thought of women ever having anything important in society,or I do everything for Caesar will but I must honestly say I love the legion. I have played fallout new Vegas a good 20 times (on my old XBL account) and on every single one of them except 3, I went with the legion. The only one I found even close to liking was Mr.house, but Caesars will demands he must be killed.

But its not slavery, to enslave them is to save them.

We shall see how brave you are when nailed to the walls of Hoover Dam, your body facing west so you may watch your world die.

But you are not destroying the legion, just kicking them out of the Mojave.

This is my rule of thumb hierarchy of the factions in the FO universe:
    1) Shi
    2) BOS
    3) NCR
    4) Enclave
    5) Caesar's Legion

The Shi are remnants of the Chinese, who inhabited San Fransisco in FO2. They were either destroyed or annexed by the NCR sometime between FO2 and New Vegas. A real surprise that Imperial would pick them, I know.

They are technically a minor faction that appeared in FO 2.
They are decendents of a Chinese nuclear submarine that was off the coast of the US when the nuclear exchange occurred. They were hit by the EMPs and drifted into San Francisco, where they set up camp and stayed.
They take their name from Shi Huangdi, the real-life first Imperial Emperor of China.
They are a technologically advanced group with the capability (by the end of FO 2) to begin the manufacture of both Vertibirds and powered armor suits. They are lead by an advanced AI computer that they call the Emperor, though for practical purposes, a human overseer of sorts is actually in charge of carring out its orders. Additionally, their botony labs are tending to a plant that absorbs radiation, though the plant can only survive in the SF area.
They are a very much isolationist group, similar to the BOS. They generally limited their operations to the SF area.

All that as of the end of FO 2.
Though some, such as Kali, have suggested that the expanding NCR probably either destroyed them or assimilated them (or the plant somehow killed them), their canon (game fact) fate still remains unclear.

    It is, isn't it?

Does the fallout wiki tell you what happens? Don't they have a timeline?

I would rely on the FO wiki for many things, but unless Bethesda clearly, with no room for manuver, declares the fate of the Shi, I still hold that they are still kicking.

In any case, it wouldn't really change the hierarchy.
In terms of major factions, it would remain the same, just with everything bumped up one.

I can't see a scenario where the NCR wouldn't have assimilated them into their "empire".

And I equally cannot see a scenerio where the Midwestern BOS would have lost to the Legion.
Canon is a fickle and funny thing.

The midwestern BOS was weak and just a small isolated extension of the BOS.

    Hardly small and weak.

It had the Calculator and its army of robots and factories at its disposal.
It had the tribes of the area contributing to its growth. It took in recruits much like the Legion and didn't rule out ghouls, mutants, deathclaws (intelligent ones), and women.
It had the weapons and technology of that only the BOS have at their disposal.
It had a working agriculture system and flowing water.

Basically, it should have been like having the tech of the Enclave with the numbers of the Legion.
But Bethesda wrote them off as having lost to the Legion.

There is no logical reason that I can think of why they should have lost, nor why both BOS wars were written off as trival matters.

The only reason that they were written off was because they were acutally a stable society that could easily defeat... anyone, and that would have possibly limited the growth of the universe.

The war between NCR and Legion is basically US Army vs The Roman Legions which is one of the most awesome ideas I have ever seen and as much as I find the NCR soldiers likeable and their tactics and doctrines practical I just can't help but root for the Legion no matter how evil or impractical their ways and beliefs may be because they're just so goddamn awesome.
