So I am looking into upgrading from a Nvidia Geforce GT220 which is apparently the best cheap graphics card I can get with a 350 Watt Powersupply, but I cant get anything very expensive (i.e. no graphics card and power supply that together comes over a total of like $175) because I dont want it to take a year for me to actually earn enough money. I know I will have to upgrade my power supply as well. The 5770/6770 (they are virtually the same card) is the card to get at that price point, and still have enough for a PSU. The 6790 is the best card if you can get the extra ~$20. This seems more appropriate in the Tech Help section.
I might get a summer job as well, but I am not counting on it. Yeah thats what I was thinking. Would I need anything else other than a PSU and a Graphics Card?
That is a lot of money, you'd be able to buy a graphics card that is faster than literally 99.7% of the rest of the world, and would last you several years. The GTX 680 would be the card to buy, no question. However, while it is a very efficient card, it does require a moderate amount of power. Do you know the watt rating of your power supply unit? The GTX 680 might be more powerful that you need. For example, it will run BF3 with everything turned up to maximum at 90FPS. I don't want to make you spend a ton of money on speed you won't fully utilize. What games are you going to be playing, and how long do you intend to wait before upgrading?

The only thing you need to upgrade is your graphics card. I advise you to wait a month or two, because a price war is coming. I won't know exactly which card you should get until then, but it's probably going to cost around 250 Euro, less if you want. More isn't necessary. That should last you a few more years at least, by which time you'll hopefully have saved up enough to get a proper custom rig.
