Is is possible to set up a system to where OPs can lock their own threads?
And if so, why aren't we use that system right now?

We do if you opened the thread and request it we'll lock it.

I mean is it possible to give them the power to lock it themselves?

I don't think that's possible, you should talk to Uni about it

I don't think so as I can't find a way for a thread opener and the people who go on it to have different permissions.

    Is he on much?

And I've seen other forums where there is a lock/unlock button in the OP next to the quote and edit buttons.

But we will always lock it if the OP requests it. So why do we need this?

Because the mods might be busy with something or someone. Or their may be no mods on at all.

It's just to make it faster and so we don't have to do it.

Less hassle for you, plus the OP doesn't have to go threw proses of waiting for a mod to notice or sending any PMs, and it would give the OP the ability to unlock on their own.

This is the worst fucking idea ever. OP shouldn't even be able to get the mods to close it. Just because he made it doesn't make it his.

So, a motherfucker who makes a single post can then own a 40 page thread? I don't buy that. If we're talking about some shit, OP shouldn't be able to tell us not to. If you've ever requested a thread be locked and you're reading this, go fuck yourself.

If a thread ever goes to 40 pages it will probably never be locked unless some idiot comes there and start spamming the thread.

Well I am not opposed to an OP lock button but I am to an unlock button. Whether you believe we should lock less threads or not, if the thread truly deserves to be locked the OP could just unlock it. If he accidentally locks it he can PM us and we will unlock it.

I'm not suggesting the unlock button over-ride a mod lock.....

@Link: Why not just petition the Assembly to unlock the thread? If the public is behind it, how can the mods say no? (Well, they could say no, but oppressing the will of the majority wouldn't be vary good for them....)

Well I am not opposed to your lock/unlock button idea then at all DD. It's just a matter of if it's possible, if Uni has the time for it and all that. I know nothing about it.
