wait what? winner take all elections gravatate to a two-party system, the party system of today reflects the majority views of today even in canada with there alleged 4 part system only 2 parties ever got to head the goverment. however you could try to organize something like the Anti-saloon leage, where they would get 5-10% of the population of each state to only back prohabition canditates, with a whole lot of effort you could try the same political tactic to try to make america more leftest. You may want the alternate voting system (i don't know about you personally but it's a popular idea on these forums), which Georgia basically has- a canidate has to get 51% of the vote or it goes to a run-off and the two party system hasn't changed a whole lot.[/quote]
Did I say I like the canadian election system? I dont like Representative democracy for a reason.

Maybe we should just not vote at all and let one man dictate our lives unquestioned. - Your logic.

The definition of democracy is not the rule of the majority, and it sure as hell ain't the rule of the minority. It is the rule of all people.

there seems to be a break in your ligic, I don't remember his saying anything about a highly centralized goverment just saying that direct democracy was inefficient (which it is)

If democracy has become inefficient it is because it is no longer democracy.

Any democracy that invests all its power into the hands of a few and centralizes them in one position is bound to be inefficient. The few can NEVER know all the needs and wants of the many. How can someone who has never known what it is like to be without health care possibly be trusted to make proper decisions on the subject?

I wouldn't call it hatred. And it applies to government in general, not just western.

And if you don't mind me asking: What the fuck is a "boehner".

His background makes him respectable in my book, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess most of his views are not his own, but rather the views of his party.

Maybe, but I'd appreciate it if you would stop setting as Kali would call them "strawmen".

Which is exactly why pure democracy and mob rule are synonyms.

Also strawmen are not an invention of mine. It's a fairly common logical fallacy. Learn all about them first day of debate class.

Didn't say it was a dictatorship, I know I still have a voice in the system. Don't try to paint me as unreasonable.

Mob rule is a slanderous term.

And I'm aware of that, but you are one of the only two who uses the term around here.
