http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/06/03/us-vatican-butler-idUSBRE85206N20120603 Pretty much, what happened is that the Pope's butler leaked confidential correspondence showing massive power struggles and political disarray within the Vatican. The Butler was arrested and then more documents were leaked by an anonymous source to a newspaper, which claimed the butler was just a scapegoat and there are hundreds more documents. The correspondence show corruption and cronyism within the Vatican. Last week, an Italian journalist published the book His Holiness which contained yet more leaked documents. So what do you guys think about this?
Humanity will never reach its full potential until "the last stone from the last church is cast down unto the last priest." See if you can get the reference without googling it Anyways: Terrible, terrible.
From what the article said the letters were I think the words "power struggle" is pretty strong phrasing for this situation...
How else would you describe it? Its a bunch of guys trying to get ahead of the system by corner cutting, and attempting not to go through certain bureaucratic systems and etc. Yes, but now have a bunch of private correspondence showing the world exactly how deep the corruption goes, and how much its affecting the Vatican.
It sucks for them to have another big scandal right after the Roman Catholic priest sex scandals and child molestation charges.
