Who is it that you look up to in today's political world? Which geopolitical figure would you consider to be your favorite, and which would you consider to be most like you (politically or otherwise)?

You can treat this all as one large question, as two questions, or as three. Don't really care which you opt for. Personally I only need to answer two here: I adore Putin and find I have the most in common with Hillary Clinton. I find Putin's politics to be largely horrifying, and especially his antagonistic attitude towards the West, but the man has got so much swag. I like Hillary and supported her over Obama back in '08, and while I may disagree with her on some things I think most of her positions are solid.

Unfortunately for him, all he found was the bile one of my school mates had spewed into the trashcan literally moments before said mystery man arrived on the scene. Funny shit IMO.

TX Governor Rick Perry is the biggest one I have. I adore him & his beliefs. He is the first candidate I have been able to work for & in a month I will get to meat him.

    Just wanted to point out
though it's not a big deal. Some of mine were recently politically relevant but not currently.

Like the OP, I also admire Putin and Hillary Clinton. Under Putin, Russia's GDP grew sixfold, and poverty fell by over 50%. I haven't studied the area closely and don't know how much of it can be attributed to him, but those numbers are impressive in anyone's eyes. And he wrestles bears while shirtless.
Hillary Clinton gets my seal of approval too. I admire her resillience and determination, but most of all her unwillingness to just sit back and be just another first lady. I like her attitude to politics as well as her political positions.
My list is topped by Bill Clinton, for obvious reasons. The man was a boss, as well as a very decent president. I liked the late Jack Layton in part because I liked his politics, but mostly because he was genuine and "loving, hopeful and optimistic", unfortunately we didn't get to see him in a position of power. Finally a guy some of you may not know, Kevin Rudd, former PM of Australia. Politically speaking, I agreed with him a lot, so you could say he's the politician who's most accurately and relevantly reflects my views. Thrown out by his own party because he was difficult to work with and a control freak, and one of his policies would actually have been very good but was unpopular with the public because of fear mongering, and within his own party because it was against their personal interests (It was a tax on the excessive profits of mining companies).

Hard question, considering how, well, shitty the modern geopolitical leaders are. If I were to pick though, I would say Mahmoud Abbas (leader of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and thus President of the State of Palestine). The reason of this is that, while I don't particularly admire Palestine, I do admire its President for his determination for making Palestine a country recognized by the UN and a country recognized by the world. I also admire his willingness to while not only pursue peaceful negotiations, but at the same time making sure he still represents what his country needs. It is a respectable quality that not many have today, and for that reason I admire him.

Yar, Fidel Castro is still alive, and plays a large part in Cuban-politics. As is Zyuganov, who is the head of the CPRF. Also, despite shaw's post being a troll attempt, Kim-Jong Un is the leader of the DPRK, so yar..

I can't seem to think of anyone I really consider my idol, but on the other hand there's a lot of politicians I despise, so me being simply neutral to a politician is an achievement for him/her in itself.

The late Jack Layton. Even though I feel like I have much more in common with the new NDP leader Thomas Mulcair
