Titanic in 3D - Really? REALLY?

Now, before you start saying it, I already disliked the film of Titanic. It was just so cheesy and so inaccurate that documentaries had to be made after the film to clear peoples names, and educate people in how films, even based on real-life events, feature fictional characters. No, James Cameron did not go down into the ocean to find Jacks skeleton >.>

And I promise you, honest to god, I had to say ^that^ to someone on Yahoo! Answers.



Now, I have no idea if this has been brought up already here, and if so I apologize - but is it just me, or is this James Cameron being a little bit stupid? Or Paramount desperate to make some more cash off this film? Yes, I know it's the 100th Anniversary of the Titanic sinking in all, but 3D? Why 3D? There's only one possible moment, in that entire movie, where I can see 3D making any impact, and that's the part were Rose goes: "Jack, I'm flying!" Or some cheesy crap like that.

Point is, why do people have to do these things? So, I'm not only opening up the floor for discussion on how stupid this movies adaptation is going to be, but also on how stupid these people must be to release a movie such as Titanic in 3D.

Seriously, why?

Because some of us are old enough to understand nostalgia.

I can understand that people my enjoy seeing the recreated luxury of the Titanic, but why in 3D? They could have just brought it back as it were. They'd still have probably got the same amount of people going through to see it, if not more.

You clearly don't understand the appeal of seeing your favourite movies in 3D

Well I don't really see why they're putting it in 3D other than they put everything is in 3D today, but I can see why it's back in theaters for the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking and that people really did like this movie.

Yeah, it makes sense to have it back for the 100th Anniversary, I totally agree. But as I said, the movie is just totally inaccurate at parts. For instance, you see the Captain being approached, being told of Iceburg warnings, but he ignores them. That's not completely true. The iceburg warnings never reached him or the bridge in the first place, as the communications room was only prioritizing certain types of messages, and I believe it was on-board communications...

Well now were getting into historical accuracy. Which the movie titanic isn't completly historicaly accurat, but many movies based on history aren't. I can see why because most people would find many historial events boring in less they changed some things. Thats why people shouldn't get thier history from movies.

Too right.

Personally, I find it would have still been as dramatic to show the warnings being ignored then smothering the Captains name by saying he personally ignored them. Like I said, they had to make documentaries afterwards to clear peoples names, like his.

3-D is lame. I love the Titanic and all, but really, in 3D. I would love to see it on the big screen, with some nice popcorn, but did they really have to put it in 3-D?

It's not actually that big of a deal. Most of the scenes most aren't in 3-D to begin with. It's really just a way to get people to watch it again in the theater.

And pay more money while there at it.

They could have just re-released it normally, as I don't think it's pulling in that many more crowds by having it in 3D. Then again, more surprising things have happened...

Hey if people can like Transformers then anything is possible.

Well I am not that surprised its a pretty smart decision tbh look at the money they are going to make I mean Im being forced into watching and I am sure even though everyone knows what happens someons going to cry at the end
