    It's here!

Shitload of new guns and 4 new maps straight from BF2, and I got it for free :D

And may I say, holy shit, there's a map with five, I say again, five conquest objectives, and it's not even near the size of Caspian Border. (keep in mind, I play on the 360, when Dice scaled the maps down they removed some objectives and the total size of some of the maps)

Some other changes, there apparantly is a new version of Conquest, instead of two opposing factions duking it out over control of a few objectives to eliminate reinforcement tickets, one team has initial control of all objectives, and loses a hell of a lot more tickets if they lose those objectives. (they can take them back)

Are you getting it/own it? Do you like it?

This is exactly what Battlefield needs.

More maps, more game modes. Is it free if you have one of them "game codes", or do you have to buy it?

Yup, if you have a pre-ordered code that you enter when Battlefield 3 came out initially in October, you get it for free, not sure if you have to enter it right away, but there is a possibility for someone stealing it. If you're a PC player I'm not sure how it'll work for you, but when I started up the game today, it made me download an update, fixing various problems and adding new stuff, as well as enabling me to play Back to Karkand. It didn't make me download the DLC, I think it was on the update itself.

If you don't have a game code, I think it's worth 1/3 of the game itself, as most of them tend to be that way in FPS games on the Xbox

Is this good DLC I am playing? One that the developers spent some actual TIME on?
When you remember that COD gets 4 mostly shitty maps for $15, this is amazing.

Yeah, it really is great, they did take all of it from BF2, however, the re-structuring of the maps and and way the maps are used in different game modes are perfected. There is all new buildings as well, tons in fact. Barely any two buildings are alike in any of the maps, and there are a ton of buildings in the DLC, tall ones as well, not just the shitty little empty square two room houses you see in Bad Company 2.

It really puts a definition on urban warfare and the tactics involved in getting by and winning the round. It also balances vehicle versus infantry, you can dodge MBT's and LAV's really easily, as they are not as maneuverable in the streets because of a lot of obstruction. It's also hard for helicopters and jets, if they're specifically targeting you (though I doubt they could in most cases) They could come down at a wrong angle and all of their rounds will be deflected by the tall buildings.

So when battlefield rehashes old maps it's innovative and fun but when cod does it it's sacrilegious?

If I had the $ I'd gladly buy it though, the medium Karkand was my favorite map back in the day

You could say one Battlefield map is worth 5 CoD maps. =P

I would say CoD bringing back 'old' maps is somewhat innovative, but they don't change anything, they don't make it new. The Back to Karkand maps look amazing, they are absolutely stunning as compared to their Battlefield 2 versions. They have much more detail, much better looks and miscellaneous objects, gameplay feels perfectly integrated from Battlefields' tactical gameplay, to absolute urban madness.

They do change things when they bring the maps back... The inside of the buildings are different, spawn points are different, and what you can and can't jump on is different. Graphics are mildly better just not as noticeable as between bf2 and bf3, but I'd sure hope that they'd update the graphics after 6 years.

What are the other maps they're re-releasing though? Karkand is the only one I remembered by name but I'm sure I'd recognize them

Gulf of Oman, Strike at Karkand, Sharqi Peninsula, and some other one.

But the game engine, yeah, it's not "that" great, but at least it's now portable to consoles, which is probably the only reason prohibiting them from enhancing it further. I am glad I can even play this game on my Xbox and have it work nearly flawlessly.

I do not know if necroposting but I am getting it now. A 36 minute download on PS3 is worth it.

Hoping that the engine for this thing will do C&C Generals II well.

This DLC was shit. I refuse to buy anything from EA again. Battlefield, Mass Effect, they were great disappointments.

How? I thought it was great. I loved the "new" maps and the weapons were decent. Yeah the FAMAS was OP, but the extent was exaggerated. The new game-mode is possibly my favourite. The vehicles don't really stand out apart from the DPV which is very useful.

So, I've read on the Battlefield 3 main menu 'news' thingy, that there is a new DLC coming out in June. I believe it was called 'Battlefield 3: Close Quarters' but I may be wrong. Sounds promising, and would do great for short ranged weapons, as I don't see much opportunity to use them in the game thus far. I'm expecting two things from this, one, that the maps, weapons or whatever is given with the DLC lives up to the title, and two, that they don't give out more shotguns. Frag Rounds are OP and should be toned down in Hardcore gamemodes.

Yeah alot of talk of the CQ DLC, everyone pictures a frag fest, I picture watching corners and smoke grenades.

Also there is also rumors about Dinosaur Mode.

It'll be a step up for the Consoles for sure, I just hope that all of the maps don't turn out like Operation Metro on Conquest.

Now, that's bullshit. There have been 'rumors' half a year before the game was released. Unless there's new stuff to it being provided by the producers, I refuse to believe anything about Dinosaurs and Battlefield.
