    Silly Viking.

And Kali, calling someone a 'Slave', and then saying that's not insulting, is just about the most idiotic thing i've heard said on this forum.

    Imperial does have a point.

And viking Socrates is using a stereotype of Chinese.

    Etc. Etc.

Except in this metaphor the person faces a Schrodinger's cat situation where the person could be simultaneously hurt and not hurt. If he ended up not being hurt than he would not press charges and so we should not report it. If he was hurt he is still well and able to report it with his own strength. I know what your thinking though, the cop shot the guy so even if he reports it fellow cops (and in most situation their deputies) would not follow through with an investigation.

But the police does follow through with an investigation and a trail. The cop in question is quite good at explaining the situation and in many cases the bullet did not exactly would the person but the person ended up shooting themselves and blaming the cop, maybe they just don't like the cop or perhaps their definition of "hurt" was to liberally applied to be valid under the current law. At any rate the trails end with the cop in question getting off, it was found that the person was not wounded from the gun shot so nobody should be persecuted. But this seems to go on as a daily basis. Of people getting shot and saying that they have been wounded but the law declares their wounds are too minor to persecute. Well an angry mob forms outside of the police station demanding the cop be fired. It gets to bad the commissioner (or maybe Stalin is the mayor) has to come out of his office to get the ACLU off his back. He polls the entire town if the cop should be fired and they say "no". So as it turns out nobody was seriously injured so we can go back to our lives.

    I really hate using metaphors.

    So you are saying that:
    1. A rule was broken by a moderator
    2. Other moderators were obligated to recognize it and report it and disipline the mod who broke the rules but didn't.
    3. The victum did not complain, therefore, the idea that any fault was committed is false.
    4. People complained.
    5. The Emperor decided to have a poll to determine guilt and punishment.
    6. The people voted majority 'no', so it follows that all this should be assumed to have never happened?
[The question mark is for the all the 6 put together as if in a single sentence or paragraph]

I cannot fault you that you have an excellent metaphor [really, its awesome], however, I would point out that in a number of cases, that which is chosen by the people is defied by the law, right or wrong.
In numerous cases, particularly in the US, even when the community as a whole believes that the person did the right thing, that person or persons was still found liable for their illicit actions under the law nonetheless.

So, while I agree that immediate Democracy SHOULD take precident over the law, in this case, most, if not all, precidents tell us that the law ought to be enforced, regardless if the person in question did the right thing.

And there are reasons for that. Particularly that passions of a moment can be the cause for actions that are regreted later on, as people fail to think their decisions through before making a choice. For that reason, among others, laws laid down often take precident over the passions of the moment. Its part of Blind Justice.

In this case, also, I would point out that the question is not whether the person did something right, but rather whether he did something wrong.

This is all really quite stupid because I didn't break any rules and I didn't ever call anyone a slave.

    *Looks closely*
So is this statement calling the claim stupid or the person who stated it?
    Or... *horror* BOTH?!

You disagreed and said that calling someone a slave isn't an insult. Because... that's stupid.

You harrased ComradeLer. That's against member rules.

I think it's fairly obvious that 'this is all' refers to the situation in its entirety.

    EDIT: @Sky
I didn't ever actually call anyone a slave. I didn't even insinuate as much. However, using the word slave to describe someone really wouldn't constitute an insult in any case, and if it did then we'd be issuing infractions to the vast majority of the communists on the forum for insisting that we're all wage slaves.

    nope
if a rule was broken but it wasn't
    that is true
yes, but their complains were unfounded
    that is what is happening
While no rules were broken it appears as though that is what is happening.[/quote]

Defamation requires falsehood, it can't simply be 'mean.' And as to the other claim, no I didn't. There is a minimum standard that has to be reached for something to be considered as a violation of the personal insults rule, and in no way does my criticism of Ler's behavior as Tribune reach that point.

Wikpedia think's it is slander, why yes, you did slander him. And yes, you did make false accusation, accusing him on 'flip-flopping' on various issues. When he didn't. I believe that's slander.

    Hmm... dictionary.com?

injurious to someone's name or reputation:

Okay... that's true. You did make ComradeLer look bad, paint him in a negative light, and try to ruin his name or reputation.

    legal-dictionary.com

Any intentional false communication, either written or spoken, that harms a person's reputation; decreases the respect, regard, or confidence in which a person is held; or induces disparaging, hostile, or disagreeable opinions or feelings against a person.

Now that i think about it, you did intentionally try to make false communication, and harm ComradeLer's reputation. Remember how you said that he had removed his post for the sole intention of saving his ass from the fire? I mean, i could probably go back and get those quotes, but you've probably seen them all.

Well, i have a couple of sites, and well, you seem to be pretty slanderous.

You did last Wednesday.... Look at your infraction points. I didn't close the report but I can see you have 2 infraction points dated this past Wednesday, and from having participated in the debate I know we decided what you did was against the rules

For the record, we use Black's dictionary for the rules, mines currently downstairs but I can tell you this issue is pretty moot considering Kali never lied or made false accusations. Ler has changed his mind on things, which isn't a bad thing really. If anything I would say launching a sitewide campaign to discredit someone, remove his modship, and ban him from the site (not you in particular on this one, but I did hear people call for it) would constitute slander.

Both the staff (by virtue of never having taken action against him) and the site (by virtue of the vote) have found Kali hasn't harassed Ler or anyone else so I don't see where you're argument is coming from anymore.

Yes, I apologise, the notification until today was not sent, getting used to the new warning system.

I find his actions and comments with regards to Ler "unprofessional" as opposed to rule breaking.

Well then I can name a few communists on the forum who have called people "Slaves to wage" many times and have yet to receive an infraction for an insult.

Also, didn't some of those also call for the unbanning of Che? You know, the guy that wished death upon all that disagreed with him.

II like how they're trying so hard to pick apart every little thing Kal says to find an insult somewhere.

Again, stop living in the past. That's soooo irrelevant it's not even funny. It would be like bringing up the British Raj as a criticism of the current British Government.

I like how you only post in this section.
Also I feel sorry for Sly. He likes everything remotely pro-Kali yet no one likes any of his posts, apparently.
That's because it would have to be used as a derogatory word to be an insult. Kali is accused of calling someone a slave in a negative context, while saying someone is bound by wage slavery is not derogatory in the slightest.

Not even Kali says he has said it in a non-derogatory context, so it should be clear to everyone that he has.
Also, you are a master at repeating Kali's arguments. A debate opponent to be feared.
