Well that's because the Orthodox catholic church never really had the control the Roman Catholics had and as such where accustom to the state and its wises not the religious leaders wishes, and at the time the Byzantine empire (although badass) was weak and getting hammered by arabs and turks, and then you had the fun loving Catholics who would attack every now and again. Next you had the Russian state which well that another story in of its self.

However in terms of population Orthodoxy is dying, the places where the church is most prominent are losing there population by a shit load, and with Europe's increasing crises (which might lead to a rise again of Catholicism and other religions especially to counter the growing number of Muslims) I can only speculate that the Orthodox church will be more willing to bend over backwards for the Roman Catholics, although I highly doubt the pope is willing to give him his central power and become more like a first citizen Patriarch, although it seems if reunification does happen it will be much more Roman Catholics favorable.

But I doubt unification will happen soon.

    Here is how it goes

    1. The pope gets a cooler hat
    2. The pope uses his new hat to sway the millions of christians to attack turkey
    3. Take over Turkey and reincorporate the lands into Greece
    4. Change Greece's name to Byzantium
    5. Attack all the European nations and unite them with Byzantium
    6. Rename Byzantium Holy Roman Empire
    7. Make the pope the emperor.
    8. Make Vatican City and Constantinople the capitals of the nation
    9. ???
    10. Take over the world

That's the plan so far between the churches when they unite. It's totally legit.

And then we all dance DO DO DO DO.

Though we Orthodox have a way cooler cross, ours has a fucking slant in the middle.

Some copy pasta from a post I made on Revleft

Gnosticism is a playful exploration of the spiritual verities, a praxis (i.e. practical spirituality) based on a direct perception of the spiritual world (gnosis = to know), rather than as a purely speculative form and this is the key to understand Gnosticism.

One of the greatest difficulties in appreciating what a given Gnostic text means is that in most cases we read it as a text rather than appreciating it as a reflection, even a record of personal spiritual experience. Accordingly, Gnosticism ranges from the ascetic to the hedonistic, from a strictly dualistic worldview to an integral one. The creator(s) of matter can be seen as a gift-giver, a vicious demonic demiurge, a stern school teacher or a playful lover, depending on one’s perception and more importantly, one’s stage of spiritual growth.

Gnosticism then must be appreciated as dynamic, changing according to need rather than as a canonical of sacred writings which are immutable and beyond question. While Gnosticism uses such concepts as good and evil, the Demiurge(s), dualism and so on, these are temporary constructs valuable only insomuch as they help the seeker gain spiritual insight. They are not ultimate truths or great secrets but more frameworks which are discarded when a further stage of development is achieved.

Gnosticism probably has more in common with the Dharma of the Buddha. When the Buddha states the Dharma is like a boat which takes you across the river of Samsara (life and death) and reminds us to use it to gain liberation and then leave it behind, he is stating an essential Gnostic tenet.

This is a good start on Gnosticism

Well thank you for that, now time to claim you a heathen heroic and put you to death like the good old days. Nah I won't do that cause this honestly quite informative and interesting.

However I have heard that alot of Gnostic sects have gotten the reputation of being hugely anti-semetic, is this true or a false lie?

Considering the Spanish Monarchy were the ones who instigated it, it's not really a thing to pin the church on.

all that considered, The Church still did some messed up things, but the inquisition could have been avoided if Ferdinand and Isabella didn't Start it.

Well it was the Pope that accepted the Spanish Inquisition (which nobody expects) to be founded.

meh. Idk about other Catholics, but I don't see that XD. imo God is God, and if God is everywhere he does not need a representative. to me, The Pope is just the head priest of the church.
