Right now the current party is trying to keep in power but the populous is becoming more and more pro-Iran.

    First Saddam was the power
    then America was the power
Now Iran might be the power

Ya my bets too. And I think the dictatorship will be backed by China/Russia/Iran.

    It's not becoming pro-Iran, it's just becoming anti-American.

Speaking Of Russia, whats your take on the Russians about to be accepted by the WTO and there closing of the Supply lines into Afghanistan to gain more leverage.

China will be more Pro-Iranian then Russia.

and the Iranians will fill up the anti-american and thus appeal to the people, there is already become more and more event that Iran is trying all it can to convince the shia population of Iraq to swing to there side.[/quote]

You guys do know that Arabs hate Persians right? The people of Iraq haven't forgotten about the Iran-Iraq conflict, nor the millenia of hatred between the two sides. The men in power now all fought in the Iran-Iraq war so I don't really see them coming to terms with the same regime. They don't even let you call it the Persian gulf down there....

Indeed. The two biggest opponents of Iran are Israel and Saudia Arabia, but Iran is almost universally despised among the people and governments of the Middle East.

I'm telling you the people hate Iran more then the governments do... The generation in power, not just government but in business, in clerical leadership, in local leadership positions, all fought and bled in the Iran Iraq war. They've hated each other for thousands of years, a resurgent shia militant force with ties to Iran isn't going to change that

Well you do have a point that Iran and Iraq relationships have never been good. I'm still on the side of Iran is going to take the power vacuum of the united states in Iraq.

There's more than a fair bit of racism towards Persians, as well as a general disdain for Iran. Not to mention the religious and historical divide between Persia and Arabia.

Yes indeed there is a divide between Persia and Arabia (To a point of almost pure hatred), which is why this is a moment in history the Saudis have been fearing for a while while the Iranians have been welcoming the withdraw of the united states from Iraq. Only time will tell where Iraq will go; however if everything goes right at for the Iranians they will now have Iraq and Syria under there sphere of power.

It will be very interesting to see what Iran will do in Iraq for the upcoming months.

Well there is a good chance that Australian troops won't be coming out of Afghanistan for another three years. Also adding to stupid figures the military commander there wants us to ship out, but leave behind billions of dollars of high-tech weaponry.

Actually it's considerably cheaper to just dump all the weapons and make more back in the home country.

Only an idiot would give that equipment to them. Besides we have enough money problems without having to buy billions of dollars more equipment from the USA.

I haven't been paying much attention to Australian news lately. But what prevents us, from say.. Bringing the equipment back, the same way we brought it there?

Iraq is just as much a nation aligned to NATO as, say, Turkey or Belgium. I see no reason not to give the guns to them if they want them and it would cost us more to not give them the guns. Win-win situation!

Nothing, it's just really expensive. Like I said, it's cheaper to make the guns again than to take them back. Obviously you could still take them back, but it's less efficient.
