It's almost 2012 and that means the 2012 presidential elections. This thread is for you to talk about who you think will win. Will Obama be around until 2016, or will the Republicans take the White house?

With all the shenanigans that have been hapening to the various republican canidates, I think it's a pretty safe bet that Obama will get reelected.
Oh and this election will be the first time I can vote, so I think thats pretty cool.

Obama probably win even thought some of the Republican candidates are better, they can't win with a new scandal being uncovered every other day.

This going to be an immensely interesting race widespread dissatisfaction will lead to a viable third party candidate to at the very least make a dent in the electoral collage. For instance Mayor Bloomberg claims to not be interested in a presidential run but that could change quickly especially if one of the "scarier" nominees win, Gingrich for instance. But that is still unlikely because of the reluctance of Democrats to try and unseat the first black president, earier this year several Democrats with deep pockets tried to get Russ Fiengold to run in order to achive a more leftest agenda but he refused. If Obama was white things might be playing out differently.Ron Paul will in all honesty lose the republican nomination but he will most likely stay on a third party candidate if only to educate Americans about the evils of the FED and foreign entanglements and so forth.

Historically these powerful third party candidates have olny played into the hands of the candidate further away from them like the fiascoes of Russ Parot and Teddy Roosevelt. My fear is that one of the third party candidates will cause nobody to actually win the election and the highly partisan congress will decide things, putting a Republican as president (although Paul would have a shot in that scenario depending on his ability to "wheel and deal"). But think about it Romney verses Paul verses Obama or Gingrich verses Bloomberg verses Obama just sounds more interesting than a straight forward two way race doesn't it?

I would vote for Huntsman if he got the nomination(which he isn't), because at this point Obama is governing as a Republican would and I'm losing faith in him fast. But if any other Republican wins the nomination I'll go for Obama.

I have a feeling Obama will get reelected. This is going to be the first time I get to vote for President (I have voted for state and local government) so this should be interesting.

Obama will win, but the race will still be very close.

Bachmaan is not even a serious contender anymore. I would vote John Huntsman if I could vote if he got the Republican nomination.

I'm not so sure that the race will be as close as you all think. None of the Republican candidates except Romney, who is everyone's 2nd or 3rd choice and thus severely hampered anyways, have broad enough appeal to be a real Presidential contender.

I agree. There really seems to be nobody strong enough to come close to knocking off Obama.

I either want him or preferably Huntsman, but considering Huntsman has absolutely no chance of winning the nomination, I will have to agree with you.

I think that the race will come down to Romney vs Obama, and in a close race, Romney will beat Obama.

Why Putin shall win the election of course! Oh wait, wrong country.
Obama'll do nicely in the absence of anyone else who seems particularly moderate (i'm sure there are others, but my knowledge of the US is almost nil). I still like him at least.

I think there will be a lot of voting based on a dislike of Obama rather than a mandate to the Republicans.
