Yep, except I believe it would have been more than slightly. Despite his tactics in war (his ruthlessness is one reason he was so successful) he would have made Japan prosper and the Japanese people who were his subjects would have thrived.

Pretty much what I thought, although I was cautious in saying it. I don't want my head ripped off by some of the people on these forums XD.

He was tremendously interested in Western culture. He is accepted to be one of the first men to wear Western clothes, collected Western trinkets and supported Christian missionaries, though he didn't convert. He also saw the advantage of gunpowder weaponry and used them to great effect, more so than other Daimyos.

So your saying Japan may not have ended up going it to that period of isolation?

Yes, that is what we are saying. It was because of Tokugawa Ieyasu becoming Shogun that Japan was isolated. Ieyasu was very isolationist, Nobunaga was not. Nobunaga was murdered by his vassal, then Toyotomi Hideyoshi avenged his death and took power and went on to take over all of Japan but died without a capable heir. Ieyasu seized the chance at power and after his victory at Sekigahara it was pretty much over for the Oda's successors the Toyotomi, Ieyasu then basically sealed off Japan. Had Nobunaga not died then it is possible Ieyasu would have never had a chance at the Shogunate, Japan would have gone on a different path than the isolationist one.

Oh definitely, In fact I believe that if he did united Japan under him he probably would've went on to colonize different parts of the World that the westerners haven't colonized yet.

Also his ancestors (assuming they didnt take a different path) may have fought off imperialist from Europe and the U.S. for there Pacific empire. Probably causing major conflicts and possibly a World War.

I guess all those pesky children he killed were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
