Not gonna happen. They simply didn't have to population and were too spread out to be in the position to colonize America. They had already colonized Finland, Pommerania, Normandy, Iceland, Greenland, large parts of England, The Highlands, The Hebrides and part of Ireland. The population was depleted by the time they discovered America.

Not as true as you might think, the viking population during the middle ages was very big, resulting in theme controlling much of Rus, Scandinavia, and well they where the elite military units in the byzantine empire. the vikings at the time where the elites of the elites (though they where not unified which turned out to be a big problem for theme and then they had the entire Christianize struggle.)

Just before the age of discovery, even the Portuguese could hardly sail out far from Africa, much less the entire Atlantic. Even if the Vikings were such a large seafaring people and reached Newfoundland, there's absolutely no way they could have begun to set up permanent colonies on the mainland. They'd all just die by the hands of the vicious climate or get beaten up by Inuits.

Well the vikings where more then ready to deal with the weather of Newfoundland. However they did have some run ins with Inuits, anyways they really had no reason to settle on Newfoundland because they only used that area for fishing and fur gathering.

We Scots aren't all bad, in fact, some of us are quite fond of the English.
