I think Charlie Chaplin had that kind on mustache first because if you look at Hitler in World War I. Also just a fun fact about Chaplin. During the era of McCarhyism, Chaplin was suspected as a communist. In 1952, Chaplin left the US for what was intended as a brief trip home to the UK, but the FBI revoke Chaplin's re-entry permit to the US.
Well, it's safe to say that Chaplin was a socialist. He attended Socialist rallies, protests, and his movies had a very strong left-wing vibe to them. Fun fact: Albert Einstein was also a Socialist.
Einstein wrote a pretty interesting essay on socialism, though it's pretty outdated and has proven to be wrong. It's basically Marxism explained. (Why socialism?) Reminds me of this piece of US propaganda. Every time I watch it, I really feel it wasn't meant as a serious movie for adults, but more as a comedy movie for little kids.
WTF the fuck are you talking about? this thread was about the rose parade, but now its about Charlie chaplian and socialism fucking annoying. Anyways the parade was good....
This guy sounds like a very smart one. I like him already. Meh, we got OT. Apparently people care more about the relation of Chaplin's mustache to US nationalism than they do about the Rose parade.
Subscribe him! And check out his Discovering religion (Original Series) episode 17 about current day misconceptions about the American Constitution and the religious views of the founding fathers...
Well there was a Movie called I Married a Communist. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Married_a_Communist_(film)
I can't find any good clips from I Married a Communist, but here's one from the movie One, Two, Three. (this was a comedy)
