I still think we should make Chives the clan leader and let him deal with it.

Well that's not really a clan. That's more of some guys playing video games.

It will still suffer from lack of support. This "snowballing" will likely recruit shit tier players or very inactive ones such as what happened with the tf2 branch.

I don't think so. With Stalin actually leading the Clan support would be easy to find. And I don't think they'd all be bad. Sure the majority would be bad but the majority of players in a game are bad. If we're talking about games like Wurm and Simrepublic it could really matter less how good the players are. What matters in those games is numbers.

The difference is TF2 never was a branch. We just played games on it and said we were in a clan. If we actually recruited some people into our clan we might have gotten a few good ones.

We should not have a clan for Wurm or Simrepublic as games which do not require skill are just stupid to have a clan for.
Ex: Having a clan for sc2 makes sense due to the competitive scene
Having a clan for minecraft does not make sense as that defeats the purpose of having the clan.
You can go out and play games like Wurm or Minecraft but having them in the clan is just dumb.

Of course a MineCraft clan doesn't make sense because it's a stupid idea. But let's face it, basically everyone here is shit at games. Sure some are ok at some things, but no one is some MLG Pro guy who is willing to dedicate his success to Stalin. What we need to do is focus on games with less emphasis on skill and more on numbers. That's where we might just have an advantage.

Not to mention, it tends to be easier to recruit in games that focus on numbers. Skill based ones force you to look to the top and many of them are smart enough not to choose some shitty clan with a bunch of scrubs.

That would defeat the purpose of having a clan.

There's no point to an organized clan if all you're doing is having a bunch of people carry a nametag.

No the point of the clan is to have fun and there is no fun in being a worthless element in a game already overcrowded with clans of far better players which we have no hope of ever beating unless some miracle happens. The clan will have fun by being the victors and we will only be the victors by joining a game with a numbers focus and by bearing the superior numbers.

And it wouldn't just be a bunch of people in a nametag. They'd be organized and scheduled and all that sort. They'd just be enphasized in numbers, not skill. Think of it like choosing between quality and quantity in EUIII and with the quality option impossible to accomplish.

There's plenty of clans based on numbers that do well.

And tell me, where are you getting these skilled players? Most everyone here is shit at video games and the few that aren't will be just as effective in a numbers based clan. Come to peace with it. You can't base the clan around skilled players because you have no skilled players to do that. On the other hand, you case base it around numbers because you have the numbers to do so.

I dislike the idea of a MineCraft branch and have said so in this very thread.

You kind of have to say it's for fun or else you'll be told you're taking the game way too seriously, and those saying that will be speaking a half-truth.

Ultimately though, the goal of the clan is to win (for whatever personal reasons our members may have to want to win) and the only viable way for our clan to win is to use numbers.

If not that, then what goal would you propose?

Yes it is a clan, and it'd be a successful clan.

I remember Stalin in the SC2 Battle Replays saying he liked the idea of having a horde of zerglings charge into battle for him. I suppose it's more of a realization of his dream than anything.

I'm blanking on the name of a very successful one currently active. I used to be apart of this one led by some guy called Commando but it's long gone now. Died in 2010 after a year of success. Commando kind of left and the whole thing fell apart.

Other than that, pretty much every successful clan on every number based game on the Internet is based in numbers.

Stop arguing in an attempt to make something that is not a clan.
Yes there is clans with a lot of people in them.
No there is not a single fucking clan that has a lot of shitty people in them.
If we just start adding whoever we can get our rate of winning, which is as you said the only thing a clan strives to achieve, will go sharply down.

Hey guys, you know we can have a gaming community with both competitive and casual players?

You still haven't even told me how you plan to get those "skilled" players. Face it, your option is impossible while mine would lead the NKVD to glory and empire.

You're not getting what I'm saying at all. In, say, Wurm skill is worthless. Once you can move around you can play almost as well as anyone else. By having a number advantage we could build an empire in short order.

You're right, in SC2 that strategy wouldn't work. But I'm explicitly saying we shouldn't go to SC2 or something. But in Wurm or another numbers based game it'd cause us to become massive powers.

Ah, but heres the thing, there is no competitive or clan scene for Wurm. You cant make a clan for a game that does not even support clans in general. Plus Wurm is not fun therefore support would die.

Yes there is. There are rival Kingdoms constantly fighting and such. We would be one of those Kingdoms. Just because it doesn't include "clans" as a term doesn't mean clans can't function.

Support doesn't have to live on forever. It's stupid to think someone without a passionate love for a game could play it for months on end. The idea is that we send the entire NKVD in at once for about a month to build up our status in the game very fast. Then we leave a small group of people who really do love the game and the rest leave and move on. The people that stay use our massive build-up to continue functioning and the clan gains recruits from that basis.

So you see, supporting dying is no problem. In fact, it's planned for.

And again, you STILL haven't explained how you plan to get those epic players that will make us actually a noticeable clan in SC2 or TF2.

Getting players that are good is just a matter of training, how exactly is that hard to comprehend?
Besides how is your idea supposed to generate a large player base, the fact is games like Wurm that only take a large supporting base to be successful in are boring because of the beforehand reason. We cant even get a large base of forum goers much less a clan group.
