The UK would like to end hostilities with the world, and join BRIC. If you wanted a sea base, you probably should have started with a request for one, which the PRC is tenetively confident that it would have granted and most likely in a suitably comfortable area. Recall that the island of Hong Kong has a modicum of autonomy granted as per the treaty, though it is a non-soverign state. No. If you want to request privilages to PRC terrictory to be considered by the PRC then seperate treaties may be drafted that may include placement within the terrictory of Hong Kong, but will not deal with the legal status of the island. That is a bit redundent, as there are already embassies for our respective countries in each other's capital cities for the maintainence of diplomatic ties. Ambassadorial status was established in 1972 and was followed by the Chinese Embassy in London soon after. London has maintained an embassy in Beijing first under the Old British Legation in 1861 and now resides within the current embassy since 1959. How in the world did you think that we made this treaty to begin with? And why would the PRC want to conceed Hong Kong to the UK so that it can have an embassy there when it is already slated to have the island itself? That defies logic and common sense. Why would the PRC settle for a minor base in Hong Kong when, under the terms of the treaty, the PRC will be able to exercise a much greater amount of military presence in a reasonable amount of time? Unless the United Kingdom intends to make preparations for hostile military actions against the PRC in the future, then the PRC fails to see the necessity in a non-aggression pact. As matters stand, the PRC views the UK cautiously, but not on the suspicion that peace with outside of reach. True peace hardly requires a pact.

I don't care what China wants. WE KEEP HON-KONG. We kicked there ass once we will kick theirs again. We plan to win by better naval and aircraft capabilities. If the nations of NATO don't support me then nobody will trust YOU again. I also doubt that the citizens of the United States support China in trade for there age old ally the United Kingdom.
