Useless in blitzkrieg scenarios. Why intoxicate an entire area if you can just overrun their positions with tanks. Gas attacks only really work in a treanch war scenario.

it only could have maybe been used well on the eastern front but still, no real need for it in the war.

Depends on the gas really, but it was more effective during world war 1 during trench warfare

I have to agree on the comment above. Gas attacks were only effective in trench warfare. Despite, Hitler not using chemical weapons in WW2. Chemicals were mainly used on the Jews in gas chambers though.

Hitler refused to use gas because he went temporarily blind from it in WW1

Gas was rendered ineffective by gasmasks that were invented soon after, anyway. I suppose it could be used in an urban battlefield, but there's no point putting in the extra effort to gas people when you can just bomb the shit out of them instead.

The Germans could have repelled the Allies there with gas and caused huge casualties, but after that, the Allies would have probably responded in the same way by utilizing gas in Italy and potentially gassing cities.

It would have helped the Germans for a small amount of time, but after that, the repercussions would have been devastating.

What if question, nothing to much. I think in the Geneva Convention it stated, "No nation is not prohibited to use gas attacks in a event of war". Nazis used it in gas chambers though.

They might also work purely as a defensive measure.
