I don't go to the Movies that much, or watch TV. Mainly because they're both the disgusting cesspools of what remains of our dying culture. BUT, I'm sure we all have our favorite programs, right? Personally, I like that series, A Game of Thrones, the best. In a way, it captures the sense of many vying powers struggling for victory in a way that makes things interesting. The massive amounts of sex and violence don't hurt either.

Archer, 30 Rock, Office, The League, Mad Men, Wilfred, Parks and Rec, Daily Show/Colbert, Louie and I'm sure there are others.
Movies: Gladiator, Inception, Death Sentence, Blackhawk down, Kingdom of Heaven, and Silence of the lambs. TV: South park, Family Guy, It's always sunny in philadelphia, Game of thrones, the walking dead, rome, and Band of Brothers/ The pacific.
The Big Bang Theory, The walking dead, Pasila, Madventures & The Dudesons. Prison break was cool too.
Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Homeland, Top Gear (UK), Sherlock, Dexter, House (though its been very inconsistent since 2008). I also watch Stewart/Colbert when I can. I will occasionally watch talk shows if they feature guests I enjoy, and I prefer the British over the Americans for the most part, particularly Graham Norton. Family Guy and 30 Rock are my favorite comedy shows. In terms of quality, Sherlock is probably my favorite TV show, but I hate how they put out so few episodes. Three, weekly, in one season which is separated from the next by 18 months, and on top of that they end on massive cliffhangers. By the time the next series has come along, a full three years will elapsed since the premiere, and in that time they will have released six, yes six episodes. God damn. In the same time period, about ten times as many House episodes will have come out. Game of Thrones and Mad Men follow close behind. Edit: forgot The Wire. And what I've seen of Downton Abbey was also top notch.
Favorite TV Show: Spongebob Big Bang Theory Movies Saving Private Ryan Gladiator The Eagle Spongebob Squarepants Movie
Sherlock is probably the best series being produced right now. You do make some good points, though. However, don't forget the episodes are one and a half hour long, which is about three times the normal length of a series, not to mention they don't have infinite material to work with, and the actor that plays Watson (forgot his name) is busy filming the Hobbit right now. Still, the first six episodes were astonishingly good, and I can't wait to see the next episodes next year. On movies, the Lord of the Rings is probably my favourite of all time, together with Monty Python and the Holy Grail. As for series, I can watch clips of Mock the Week on YouTube for hours, it's awesome.
Yeah the quality of the show is, in my opinion, higher than anything else I've seen for a TV show, and that's against all those fantastic shows I mentioned in my previous post. But that, combined with the cliffhangers, makes the brevity more all the more painful. It's like a girlfriend with whom you have the absolute greatest sex imaginable on three occasions per year, against a girlfriend who gives okay sex bi-weekly.

I've heard a lot of good things about both A Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, I should really start watching those. Also: The Big Lebowski. If you haven't watch it, go do that. Oh, and any given Monty Python movie.
