I don't like those 2 being neighbors they have manpower, industry, the will to expand, hatred for one another, atomic bombs, a giant ass military, and Gandhi.

dont worry those 2 are so close together that the odds of accidentily hitting north america with an atomic bomb are very slim

In someways I would say the US, in the idea of influence is an empire, but I wouldn't say it's and empire in the way Great Britain was.

of course it cant be like Britain because if a country just out right annexes a country the whole world will hate that country

You do realize all the stuff you're talking about happened over 100 years ago. In terms of puppet governments, we haven't done that in a long time, and even if we had, if they're not paying taxes to us or "giving" us a significant portion of their resources they're not really tied to us in a way an empire was tied to her colonies. Does that fact we occupied the Phillipines in the 1890's make us an empire in 2012?

Puerto Rico and Samoa (Puerto Rico has repeatedly voted against independence and statehood by the way) do not an empire make.

The allendes governmnet was overthrown in 1971, I'll give you the phillipines (even though we're still fighting rebels on part of there government which we installed on behalf of the people) and I'll give you Puetro Rico (even though we brutually crushed a rebellion there for independence in 1950) but i think you should look at this list http://academic.evergreen.edu/g/grossmaz/interventions.html

those are all of the "interventions" that American troops were in from 1890-now and i dont think it counts the ones backed by America so theres more still. Theres a reason most of the world hates us, its not because there jealous of our freedom, or because WE GOTS THE FREE MARKETS!!!!!!111 its because we're an empire that gets involved in other peoples buisness and it's not on the people's behalf as intervention should be its on our own pockets behalf that is imperialism so in short "they invade therefore they are" an empire

I think the US is going to a be a superpower for a very long time. We probobly won't remain the only one, but I can't say who the next one will be other then that it will not be China.

America was certainly an empire at one point. You know, the point where we invaded Mexico, went to war with Spain and got the Phillipines and Cuba, colonized Hawaii, etc. During that period, we were an "empire". Now, well now the world really doesn't have any place for empires. The last real "empires" were Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. As for your second question, will we fall, then the answer is yes. I can't say when we will fall from superpower status, but we will. Civilizations rise and fall, its how the world has worked for two millennia.

US will never fall if it maintains its democracy and improves on it.

When china starts building its aircraft carriers then we have a new cold war in our hands, if their economic keeps growing, that is. @Thefatkid I like a good lesson so please tell me why their air force sucks balls and wont be good until 2070? Their main air wings are fighters that were accepted and development to service with in 2000-2010. Also they will have new toys shortly. http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/05/china-stealth-jet/

Their navy has many new ships and more on the way. Thank the lord India is right now stronger than china in technology. Making India a good balancing force in the area.

this is saying that china is growing in strength but slowly and if you read some of the post written people have been saying that china wont become the super power for roughly 40 years and that is about the same time frame the guy in the video said

No, it can't be called an empire.

Also, what kind of stupid fuck can't even manage to punctuate the title half decently? I almost feel bad acknowledging this thread's existence.

No, the point of the video is that they will not become the next superpower. The point of the video was explaining the numerious obsticles preventing china from becoming the next superpower(there are alot), not how long until they become the next superpower
